Organiser: David

Not the most experienced of mountain bikers but by far the most experienced of festival organisers. David is the man behind the highly regarded Ramsbottom Festival and is ensuring that Northern Grip is ticking all the right boxes.

David Agnew.

Day job?

Director of So It Is, Artistic director The Met, Producer Ramsbottom Festival and Homegrown Festival.

What was your first mountain bike?

I’ve borrowed a few but current Trek 29er is my first.

What bikes do you own currently?

I have the Trek 29er and a Specialized Diverge due to inability to make a decision.

6. What is your favourite trail around Ramsbottom?

I like how much some of the speedy sheeptrack stuff scares me!

7. What is your favourite album? And/or favourite artist?

At the minute – Beirut and Marc O’Reilly. All time to be seen – I’m saving the classics for when I’m older.

8. What was the best gig you’ve ever been to?

First gig was The Communards, last gig was The Coral, next gig is Paul Heaton. Best gigs are small gigs.

9. What’s your current tipple of choice?

Deeply Vale DV8 stands out – usually the pump second from left.

10. Why do you ride bikes?

I like getting outside and getting places – especially quiet places.

11. What does Northern Grip mean to you?

I love a good idea – the idea of a group of nice folks rewarding themselves after a day’s riding with some good chat, food and music.

12. What are you looking forward to most about Northern Grip?

I’m hoping for tired legs and some good music, beer and chat.

13. What else besides bikes are you interested in?

I have three boys under 10 – otherwise theatre and music. Arts with a small a. I play tennis and enjoy skiing when practical. I like a good story.
