Here’s what you missed last year

Here’s a short film, loads of pics and some blather about last year’s inaugural Northern Grip mountain bike festival.

Local rider: Pete

We continue our local rider feature. Please meet Pete Burrell…

Local rider: Rachael

Rachael lives in Ramsbottom and can be regularly found on the hills above either on her bike or fell running. She’ll be around at Northern Grip helping out on the Sustrans stand.

Local rider: Jason Miles

There’s not enough room in this blog to fully explain what special sort of lunatic Jason is. Riding a tandem recumbent with Guy Martin for 24hrs is just the tip of the bonkers iceberg.

Organiser: David

Not the most experienced of mountain bikers but by far the most experienced of festival organisers. David is the man behind the highly regarded Ramsbottom Festival and is ensuring that Northern Grip is ticking all the right boxes.

Local rider: Charlotte

Charlotte lives just outside of Ramsbottom – in Edenfield – but is more often found riding on the Peel Tower side of the valley. She’ll be around at Northern Grip helping the event go off with a bang.

Supporter: Budge from Team JMC

Budge is a Ramsbottom resident and Team Principal for Team JMC – the alt-racing cycling team that anyone can join and get support from.

Organiser: Jamie

One of the Grippers heading up the night time entertainment plan. As a club-night owner in Manchester, Jamie knows how to get people having a good time. Owner of the fanciest bike in the Northern Grip bikeshed.

Organiser: Mike

Previous owner of the most bling bike in town (until Gripper Jamie’s new ride came along). Mike can often be seen hurriedly changing from sensible suit-and-tie into a mud-flecked mountain biker.

Organiser: Benji

AKA the Trailfinder General. Likes big wheels and bouncy bikes. Writes words and wields a camera. Often found Instagramming someone at the top of a hill or lying in a ditch.
